A parent’s guide to education & island life

Moving to Siquijor
with kids.

You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your child’s future to move to paradise.

For many families, Kids Club is what makes living on Siquijor possible. That decision rests on confidence in the quality of education, the teachers, the facilities and the opportunities their children will have later in life.

01 · The decision that makes the move possible

Your child’s future comes first.

A move to Siquijor can mean more time outdoors, a close community and a wonderful childhood. As a parent, you also need to know that your child will learn well, be challenged appropriately and build the foundations for whatever comes next.

Could they return to school in your home country? Work toward a place at a leading university? Develop the knowledge, confidence and independence to choose a career they care about? Those questions belong at the heart of your decision.

Kids Club brings together an international homeschooling curriculum, attentive teachers and a learning environment designed around children’s development. Our ambition is for a happy childhood on Siquijor to support a strong education and future opportunities.

Quality education, with progress you can follow
Euka’s Australian curriculum provides an academic foundation. Teachers guide children through learning, identify where they need support or greater challenge, and discuss progress with parents.
A thoughtful way of teaching
Montessori-inspired guidance, mixed-age learning and practical discovery help children become curious, capable and independent. Academic progress sits alongside friendships, emotional development and learning to work with others.
Facilities that support the whole child
Air-conditioned classrooms, chef-prepared lunches and gated, guarded grounds provide everyday comfort. The garden, beach, pool and tennis court create opportunities for exploration, creativity and physical development, with teachers and the resort’s lifeguard supervising water activities.
A close connection between parents and teachers
Our own Kids Club app brings you into your child’s learning journey through shared photos, journals, direct teacher conversations and practical updates. See how you stay involved.
02 · Start with learning

Schools and education in Siquijor

When comparing schools in Siquijor, begin with your child: their age, current learning level, language, interests and support needs. Then consider how long you expect to stay and where they might study afterward.

Your shortlist may include public schools, private schools and a homeschooling arrangement with in-person support. These work differently, so ask each provider to explain its curriculum, registration, daily teaching and the records it can supply.

Public & private schools
Confirm the grades offered, teaching language, admission requirements, school calendar and current recognition directly with the school. The DepEd Siquijor division office is an official starting point for local school enquiries.
Homeschooling at home
Consider who will guide daily learning, which curriculum you will use, how you will document progress and how your child will make friends. Check the requirements relevant to your family’s circumstances.
A homeschooling center
A center can bring teacher guidance, learning spaces and a group of peers into the homeschooling experience. Ask how responsibilities are shared between the center, curriculum provider and parents.

Kids Club is a homeschooling learning center in San Juan, Siquijor, combining Euka’s Australian curriculum with in-person guidance, play and mixed-age learning. Talk with us about the right curriculum level, support and availability for each child before moving.

Questions to take to any visit

  • Who will teach my child, what experience do they bring, and how will you understand my child’s starting level?
  • How much of the day involves movement, outdoor learning, play and practical activities?
  • Are children encouraged to ask questions, explain their thinking and explore different ideas?
  • How do children of different ages interact, and how is learning adapted to each child?
  • Which curriculum guides academic expectations, and can we see examples of progress and next steps?
  • How will I see what happens during the day, communicate with teachers and raise a concern?
  • Can we see the facilities, current lunch menu, extracurricular options and supervision arrangements?
  • How will this learning prepare my child for their next school and longer-term goals?

For Kids Club’s current charges and inclusions, see our Pricing page. When comparing options, check what is included and which activities or curriculum services are arranged separately.

03 · Happy to come. Ready to learn.

Playful days. Curious minds. Strong foundations.

You want your child to enjoy going, feel interested in what they are doing and make meaningful academic progress. At Kids Club, these goals belong together. Our approach combines Montessori-inspired guidance, an international homeschooling curriculum and hands-on discovery.

Will my child spend the whole day sitting in a classroom?

Our days combine focused classroom work with play, movement, creative activities and outdoor discovery. The garden, beach and local surroundings are part of the learning environment. Reading, writing and mathematics sit alongside opportunities to make, explore and put ideas into practice.

Montessori-inspired guidance gives children opportunities to make choices, use accessible materials and do things for themselves. Teachers observe when a child needs help, a different activity or a greater challenge. During a visit, ask us to walk you through the daily rhythm and how we keep children engaged.

Will my child be encouraged to think for themselves?

Questions are welcome. We encourage children to ask “why?”, explain their ideas, test possibilities and listen to different perspectives. They can respectfully question an answer, make a mistake and change their mind as their understanding grows.

Teachers guide that curiosity through conversation and practical exploration. We want children to develop their own understanding, confidence and judgment, and to feel comfortable asking for an explanation.

Can children learn and make friends across age groups?

Mixed-age learning is part of our approach. Shared activities give children chances to help one another, learn from different perspectives and practice cooperation. Teachers also support individual learning at the appropriate curriculum level, with activities suited to each child’s understanding and needs.

How does academic learning compare internationally?

Euka’s Australian curriculum provides a structured academic foundation and a clear reference for what children work toward at each level. It combines curriculum learning with practical activities. Explore Euka’s curriculum.

Our teachers guide children through reading, writing, mathematics, science and other areas of learning, helping them work through gaps and take on new challenges. English is our teaching language. At review meetings, discuss what your child can do, the work that demonstrates it and what they are working toward next.

For a future move, compare your child’s learning with the requirements of the intended school or education system. Curricula and placement expectations differ between countries; knowing your likely destination helps make those conversations specific.

Curriculum and school status are different questions. Kids Club operates as a homeschooling center rather than a DepEd-certified school. Read our curriculum and status FAQs and talk with us about the arrangement before enrolling.

04 · The setting shapes their day

Facilities, healthy meals & extracurricular activities

Where your child spends the day, what they eat and how they spend their energy all deserve a close look. A visit should give you a clear picture of the everyday experience as well as the curriculum.

What facilities are available?

Comfortable spaces for learning and care
Air-conditioned classrooms, on-site toilets and showers, and space for focused learning, making and sharing ideas.
Room to move and explore
A play space, vegetable garden, beach and ocean setting, swimming pool and tennis court. These give children different environments for discovery, physical activity and time with friends.
A secure and practical setting
Fenced, gated grounds with guard protection, parking and a designated Kids Club drop-off and pickup area. Teachers and the resort’s lifeguard supervise swimming and water activities.
Sustainability children can see
Solar power, a rainwater system and the vegetable garden connect everyday life with caring for the environment. Parents can also ask about the resort’s coworking space and Starlink Wi-Fi.

On your visit, ask to see the spaces your child will use and how activities are supervised. Explore our setting.

What will my child eat?

Healthy lunches are prepared on-site by the restaurant’s chefs. Lunch is part of the classes-and-lunch program and is also included on trial days, giving children a shared meal within their learning day.

Ask to see the current menu and talk with us about your child’s preferences, allergies and dietary needs before joining, so suitable arrangements can be confirmed. Enrolled families can find meal information in the Kids Club app.

What can they do after class?

Our optional extracurricular program runs immediately after classes, led by coaches and practitioners. Children can explore different interests, build skills and enjoy time with friends.

  • Tennis: movement, coordination and practice on the court.
  • Swimming: building skills and confidence in the water.
  • Zumba: music, movement and the enjoyment of dancing together.
  • Arts and crafts: making, experimenting and expressing ideas.
  • Bisaya: connecting with local language and culture.

Ask about the current activity schedule when planning your child’s start. See our after-school activities and Pricing for the optional program.

05 · Parents & teachers, together

Stay close to their day, wherever you are.

What did your child discover today? Are they making friends? What are they finding difficult, and how can you help at home? Feeling confident in their education means being able to see what is happening and have a conversation with the people guiding them.

Our own Kids Club app keeps families connected to the learning, the teachers and the everyday details. It gives you a shared place to follow your child’s journey and take part in it.

What really happens in the classroom?

Photos, learning journals and observations shared by teachers give you a window into your child’s experiences: the activities they try, the ideas they explore and the progress they make. These moments help you understand their day and give you something specific to talk about together at home.

How do I communicate with the teachers?

Each child has a dedicated conversation connecting their parents or guardians with the teachers and staff supporting them. Ask about learning, share something you have noticed at home or follow up on an earlier discussion. Conversations for siblings stay separate, keeping each child’s needs easy to follow.

You can enable email notifications for unread messages and announcements, then open the app to read and reply. Alongside these conversations, regular PTA meetings and a review meeting each term provide time to discuss progress and next steps in more depth.

What else helps us stay involved?

  • Important updates: announcements bring together reminders and information from Kids Club.
  • Everyday plans: find the calendar, activities, meal information and recorded attendance in one place.
  • Your child’s care: keep family and care details up to date so the team has the information it needs.
  • Questions, concerns and ideas: use Feedback to raise an issue or suggestion and follow the updates shared with you.

Each approved parent or guardian can have their own account, with access to their linked children. Photos and family information are shared privately with authorized people. App access is included with enrollment, and you can use it in your phone’s browser.

06 · Keep future choices open

Their next school. University. Life beyond education.

Your child’s time on Siquijor should help prepare them for the world ahead. Whether your family later returns home or builds a longer-term life here, our goal is to develop academic foundations, independence and a lasting ability to learn.

Continuing school back home or elsewhere

Share likely destinations early so we can discuss your child’s progress, any learning gaps and the records their next school may need. A confident transition involves both academic preparation and the ability to adapt, ask for help and work with new people.

Families who separately enroll with Euka can access its standard academic transcripts and grade reports. The information available depends on the child’s enrollment and recorded learning. Ask the receiving school which documents, assessments or placement steps it requires; admission and recognition remain its decision. Read Euka’s guidance on returning to school.

For international moves, check any additional requirements with the relevant education authority.

Working toward university ambitions

Our long-term vision includes support through secondary education and preparation for universities worldwide, including competitive universities. That means planning for the qualifications, subjects and entrance exams a student’s chosen course requires. These pathways develop as our program grows; each university sets its own admission requirements.

Building capabilities for a future career

Reading, writing and mathematics matter. So do communication, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration and the confidence to keep learning. We aim to develop these capabilities through academic work, hands-on projects, shared responsibilities and opportunities to try, reflect and improve. They help children build toward adult life and the careers they may one day choose.

07 · Find your island base

Choose a home around your family’s day

If Kids Club is on your shortlist, start with our location at Kostal in San Juan. Visit potential accommodation and try the journey to the center at the time you would normally travel. Consider pickup, grocery trips and where you will work during the day.

Before agreeing to a long stay, ask about internet at the actual property, mobile reception, power and water arrangements, cooking facilities, laundry and what is included in the accommodation agreement. If you work remotely, test a call from the room or workspace you will use and discuss backup options.

One option: stay close to Kids Club

A family base at Kostal

Kostal welcomes long-term guests. Kids Club families can access preferential long-term arrangements with use of the resort facilities, including the coworking space with Starlink Wi-Fi. Beach, pool and tennis facilities are part of the setting.

Accommodation is arranged separately. Ask about available rooms, stay conditions and facilities before making plans.

See our location on Google Maps

Build a family budget around accommodation, utilities, food, transport, learning and healthcare, with room for travel and unexpected expenses. Request current quotes for your own dates and family size rather than relying on someone else’s holiday budget.

08 · Make room for settling in

A new place feels easier with familiar people

Children do not all adjust at the same pace. Before the move, talk about what will stay familiar and what will change. Give them simple ways to participate, such as choosing a favorite book to bring or thinking of a question for their new teacher.

Tell us about your child’s interests, languages, friendships and current routine. Discuss allergies, care needs and any learning support before joining so we can consider suitable arrangements together. Children need to be toilet trained, and we do not have a scheduled nap time.

A first visit is a chance to see the spaces and meet the team. Trial days can help children ease into classes and include lunch. Arrange these with us in advance, and keep the first days around the visit relaxed.

Help your child picture their new routine before the first day. Explore a day at Kids Club together and check our current hours and term calendar. Talk about the activities they might enjoy and the people they will get to know.

Share how your child is feeling at home as well as asking about their day here. Use their teacher conversation in the app to discuss what is helping them settle and where they may need more support.

09 · Before you commit

Your family’s moving checklist

Use these prompts when planning together. They are useful whether your move is for a few months or a longer chapter.

  • Learning for every childConfirm ages, availability, curriculum, support needs and the enrollment process. An enquiry does not reserve a place.
  • A home that works every dayCheck the commute, sleeping arrangements, cooking facilities, utilities and stay conditions in person where possible.
  • Healthcare and ongoing careIdentify local providers and ask about the services your family needs. Confirm ongoing prescriptions and any off-island care arrangements with your clinician and insurer before moving.
  • Travel and local transportConfirm your arrival port, onward transport and how you will travel safely with children. Check current ferry schedules and advisories directly with your operator, such as OceanJet, close to departure.
  • Work and connectivityTest the internet where you will actually work. Check your call schedule against drop-off, pickup and family time.
  • Documents and permission to stayCheck passports and the entry, stay, work and study requirements applicable to each family member with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration or your Philippine consulate. Enrollment and immigration arrangements are separate.
  • Budget and a first-month planGather current quotes, plan the initial move costs and leave time to settle. Keep education records and important family documents accessible.
10 · Take the next small step

Plan a visit before making the move

You do not need to have every detail decided to start a conversation. Tell us your children’s ages, when you are thinking of coming and what matters most to your family.

  1. Talk before you travel. Start with a video call about learning, your child’s needs and possible start dates.
  2. Try everyday life on a visit. Explore accommodation and the neighborhood, and test the routines you would depend on.
  3. Meet us at Kids Club. Explore the classrooms and outdoor spaces, meet the team, review the menu and activities, and ask about academic progress. Discuss a trial day if it would help.
  4. Agree on the next steps. Confirm a suitable place, enrollment details and accommodation separately before finalizing your move.

Let’s talk about your family’s next chapter.

Already on the island or still exploring from afar, we’d be happy to hear what you have in mind.
